1、常壓當承壓使用
將常壓熱水鍋爐直接和自來水或采暖系統密閉循環。也就是將鍋爐本體上與大氣相通的排汽管當做回水管使用，使鍋爐本體始終處于滿水承壓狀態。這種密閉循環方式有兩種危害：第一是當爐水溫度過高時，產生的蒸汽無法排泄出去，因而壓力會不斷上升，爆炸和泄漏事故隨時都有可能發生。第二是即使爐水溫度不高，不會產生大量蒸汽，但由于有循環泵的作用，鍋爐本體承受熱水循環壓力是較高的。

2、質量差，發展緩慢
常壓熱水鍋爐制造廠發展迅速，出現了產品供大于求的情況，有的生產廠家技術力量薄弱，制造質量差，且各廠家之間競爭非常激烈，相互壓價，有的廠家甚至偷工減料。設計不規范。常壓熱水鍋爐與承壓鍋爐相比，有顯著的特點，特別是在熱力和水動力方面，因此常壓熱水鍋爐的結構設計應符合其自身的特點。但目前常壓熱水鍋爐設計還不規范，設計時根本不進行熱力計算和水動力計算，常壓熱水鍋爐的設計基本上是在承壓鍋爐的基礎上改為開口形式而已，其它結構原樣復制，致使鍋爐水循環不良，浪費能源。
